Chester Springs Youth Orchestra Program
The Chester Springs Youth Orchestra Program was founded in 2009 by Martin Prescod who serves as Music Director and Conductor.
It consists of the Chester Springs Youth Orchestra, the Chester Springs Chamber Strings and the Chester Springs Sinfonietta.
Musicians range in age from 8 to 21.
The Chester Springs Youth Orchestra Program is a non-profit organization devoted to the training and musical development of young orchestra musicians.
Mission Statement
Under the musical guidance of Music Director, Martin Prescod, the Chester Springs Youth Orchestra Program is committed to creating and maintaining the highest level of orchestral training, artistic advancement and personal growth for talented musicians in the Chester Springs community and surrounding areas.
To meet and accomplish this mission, CSYO has the following goals:
- To bring together the finest young musicians from the surrounding area to rehearse and perform orchestra music from various eras.
- To encourage a sense of personal responsibility and self–discipline.
- To enrich and complement school programs.
- To perform high quality symphonic music for the general public.
- To foster greater appreciation for classical music in young musicians.
- To cultivate the appropriate behavior and discipline among musicians during rehearsals and performances.
Chester Springs Youth Orchestra
The Chester Springs Youth Orchestra performs master pieces from the standard symphonic literature to a highly proficient level. Only students who demonstrate an advanced technical ability and musicianship are accepted.
Chester Springs Chamber Strings
The Chester Springs Chamber Strings is designed for those students who have an interest in performing String Literature from various periods.
Chester Springs Sinfonietta
The Chester Springs Sinfonietta is designed for those students who are not yet sufficiently developed, musically and technically, for the Chester Springs Chamber Strings and Chester Springs Youth Orchestra.
