Martin Prescod, Founder and Music Director

 Martin Prescod is the Founder, Music Director and Conductor of The Chester Springs Youth Orchestra.

He holds degrees in violin teaching, composition and conducting from Combs College of Music, The Neupauer Conservatory of Music, and The Royal School of Music in the UK.

He studied violin with David Grunschlag and Morris Shulik of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Theory and Composition with Dr. Jacob Neupauer, Dr. Romeo Cascarino and Dr. William Schimmel.

Mr. Prescod taught at Harrison College in Barbados, and in Pennsylvania at Combs College Of Music, The Neupauer Conservatory of Music and Chestnut Hill College.

While at Chestnut Hill College, he taught, Eartraining, Solfege, Music History, String Methods and has conducted fully staged opera productions including La Perichole and Die Fledermaus.

In 1992 Mr. Prescod developed a 6-week summer camp for strings under the sponsorship of the Barbados Ministry of Education and has directed that program every year since its inception.

He previously served as Music Director and Conductor of the Barbados Chamber Orchestra, and from 1983-1986, Music Director and Conductor of The Philadelphia Symphonia.

Mr. Prescod is presently on the faculty at Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania as Orchestra Director.
